Product Description

Offering one of those hard to believe it, authentic, one of a kind, antique finds. A double sided wooden advertising billboard for the Ghirardelli Chocolate company, circa 1920s. Part of their famous Gear-Ar-Delly ad campaign that began in 1915. Sales rose once consumers knew how to pronounce the name.

Hand painted by the famed Universal sign company of San Francisco which opened around 1906 and is still in business. Different design on each side, each one showcasing different chocolate products.

This sign is painted on wood. The finish shows wear from being outside for many years in San Francisco weather. Taken down and stored for many years, it was rescued in the 1950s when the warehouse was cleaned out. It’s been held in the same family since then.

A large piece, perfect for mounting high up on a wall. It is in completely original condition and has not been altered in any way. There is no protective finish on it, so it should be preserved indoors. There are holes for mounting. Measures 48 inches wide x 72 inches high.
